The FBAT, or Florida Basic Abilities Test, is a generic term for the entry-level test used in Florida to measure basic abilities required for employment in law enforcement-related occupations. There are three types of FBAT exams:

  1. LEBAT – Law Enforcement Basic Abilities Test

  2. COBAT – Corrections Basic Abilities Test

  3. PROBAT – Probations Basic Abilities Test (not covered here)

Police or sheriff deputy applicants will take the CJBAT or Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test published by IOS. Florida has contracted with another company - Pearson VUE - to administer the exam.
