DEA Diversion Investigator Exam

Candidates who meet minimum qualifications based on the initial online application will receive an email invitation to complete the DI Assessments. Phase 1 of the DI Assessments will be completed online and include the Assessment Questionnaire and Biographical Data Questionnaire. These assessments measure the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Flexibility, Integrity/Honesty, Interpersonal Skills, Mathematical Reasoning, Oral Communication, Self-Management, Stress Tolerance, Teamwork, Technology Application, and Writing.

The DEA Diversion Investigator Proctored Exam (Phase 2) has three main components:

• Mathematics Assessment

  • This test consists of 15 multiple-choice questions that measure your ability to apply mathematical reasoning to solve problems. You will have 55 minutes to complete the assessment.

• Judgment

  • This test presents 30 workplace scenarios that a Diversion Investigator may encounter. The assessment measures decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal judgment. You will have 75 minutes to complete the test.

• Recall and Documentation Assessment

  • This assessment evaluates your ability to observe, retain, and accurately recall written information. You will read reports, narratives, and other documents and then answer questions without referring back to the original material.

• Written Exercise

  • This exercise provides background information and asks you to write a brief essay that summarizes the facts and makes a recommendation. You will have 30 minutes to complete the exercise.
